Hello everyone! My husband and I got a Tom turkey about a month ago he’s 2 years old and probably weighs about 30 pounds. We’ve been keeping him in an enclosed pen so he can get to know our property before we let him free range.
4 days ago we came outside and he wouldn’t stand up he was panting and we could tell he was in pain. We examined his legs for breaks and his feet for bumbles but we couldn’t find anything. I read that turkeys can have a low dose of aspirin for pain so we gave him some for 3 days.
Today he seems to be doing a little better he will stand for short periods but hes limping and I noticed his foot looksvery swollen and red. Can I give him an injection of Liquamycin200 in the leg? If so how much should he get? I’d check his foot for a bumble again but my husband isn’t here to help me and I can’t wrangle a 30 pound bird on my own.
