B/B/S, partridge, and silver partridge. I'm really hoping the partridges hatch!!

Good luck! Keep us posted! I put 3 into lockdown yesterday and two are hatching now, 2 buffs and 1 partridge.

Faerytale, you know I want to see pics!

So glad to read this thread! I have 6 Silkie eggs in lockdown as of late yesterday. Hope 11-11-11 is lucky for all of us! I am at day 19 today and have seen a couple of the eggs wiggle this morning. So excited. This is our first hatch. I got the eggs right here on BYC from a really nice breeder from Tennessee (Marie). I have 4 eggs labeled BBS, one partridge, and one labeled BBS Splash.

I am using the base model LG still air incubator. Turning the eggs by hand until yesterday. We live near the coast so the humidity has been OK for the first 18 days. I finally added water to the troughs yesterday. The RH in the room is 53% and the bator is just over 60%. I agonized over the humidity decision yesterday. So much conflicting advice out there!! I had some wet paper towels in for awhile yesterday but took them out when I saw the humidity go up over 80%. I know that works for some people but it made me nervous, especially bc the temp was super hard to regulate after adding all the moisture. I'm at a steady 99.8F & would like to keep it there until the babies hatch.

I did not know until yesterday that Silkies sometimes hatch at Day 19!!! Doh!! Now I'm parked in front of the bator for the whole weekend. My husband was making fun of me a little.

Good luck to all of you!!!!

Silver partridge are really beautiful! I hope you get partridge too!

Not sure someone answered this..I am guessing they have Welsummers? Sounds like you guys are having too much fun, or is that possible when you are hatching?

Yay congrats to everyone that has chicks hatching right now!!! Soooo exciting. This is day 19 for me as well, but my incubator is so loud I can't hear if there's any cheeping. I haven't seen any eggs move, but I sure have been spying on them a lot. Just keep telling myself to keep it closed....

I want to see pics from all of you that have cute little babies popping out now!! This is my second time around hatching (hopefully) and I can't imagine the excitment of a new hatch ever wears off. These 2 eggs actually came from a silkie I have laying too, which is a first for me.

Let me ask you guys who are also hatching into winter? Where are you guys putting them? Mine will be raised up in a brooder inside - no heat in the coop. My friends and family think I'm a little crazy raising baby chickens in the house, but I'm doing it anyway!

I am also incubating my silkie eggs in an LG still air, however we added a PC fan to it. I had a terrible time keeping my humidity stable before lockdown, it was usually down around 10-12%. From what I could see, the eggs developed right as they should, so I'm hoping all goes well! Lockdown has been running pretty stable at about 100 degrees and 64% humidity.

for us all!
My last hatch - which was also my first hatch ever, started on day 20 and that will be tomorrow for these eggs!

Shayna, thanks for starting this thread & for posting your experience. It's making the killer waiting game more bearable.

I think I have a lot emotionally invested in my hatch because our beautiful white Silkie hens (2 of them) were killed by a hawk right after I put this batch of eggs in the incubator. I miss my little hens so much. They followed me around & were so sweet. I just can't imagine not having chickens & am really glad for all the support on this site.

Day 19 is almost finished. Wonder if I'll sleep?

Oh, to answer another post, I am going to keep this batch of chicks in the house for at least a month. The Christmas tree will cover up the smell. I don't care if it's crazy!!!
