That's great! Congrats! My second baby just hatched. I now have the incubator free to hatch the 10 eggs waiting.

I must say, hatching eggs that came from my own birds was SO much easier. These were my first two eggs laid in my coop and 2 of 2 hatched. Prior to this with shipped eggs I had 0 of 24, and 4 of 11 hatch.

How are the eggs GonzoChickenLady? Any pips?

The partridge Silkie pipped a couple hours ago. She was chirping loud all night!!! So excited. (S)he has only made one crack in her shell so far but I think she'll start zipping soon I hope!!! Day 21 starts in 20 minutes. The other five eggs are being pretty quiet. I have seen some movement though.

Good luck everyone!!

Oh, I'm so happy for you! My first egg pipped last night about 8pm (I was standing over it when it happened) and it started to zip about 1:15am (yes, I actually woke up as it was starting to zip!) and it fully hatched just before 2am. They can take longer than that pip to zip, but anyway, you could see zipping any time now! My other one pipped on a side that I couldn't see, so I didn't know it was hatching until it started zipping this morning.

You'll have babies very soon!!

I'm going to try to get pics of my two here soon. I have collected 10 eggs over the period of incubating these 2, so the 10 have just been put in. December 4th-5th, I'll get to go through this all over again!

After 4, yes FOUR failed hatches back to back, imagine my excitement last night to hear cheeping a day early!! I really thought they would be late b/c of low temps. I rushed to add more water to the bator, didn't open it. Chick died over night, shrink wrapped:( Other four were alive 2 days ago, so I am leaving it alone for a few days.
Guy at TSC told us to exchange our bator when this hatch is done, the first three hatches were great, and I am doing nothing different with all these failures, so he will give us another incubator.

Well the 3 that had piped have hatched overnight, plus 2 more.
3 failed to pip, eggtopsy later.
So from 22 eggs we have 19 chicks.

I'm so sorry. I remember when my first time trying to hatch failed miserably, no hatches out of 24 eggs I bought. One pipped but died zipping. I can't imagine having that happen over and over. It's just heartbreaking. I really hope your other 4 pull through!! I'm glad TSC will exchange your incubator. Hopefully that'll fix your problem. When I notice my eggs pipping, I squirt some warm water in with a tube and syringe, and sometimes I mist some warm water in too. I don't know if it really helps, but after losing the one that pipped the first time, I haven't had another get stuck since I started doing that.
