Tomorrow (11/11/11) is Lockdown!!!! Anyone else?

4 have hatched today. One of those was very weak and died earlier this evening. Found one egg with a pip near bottom, turned it on its side to see if that would make it easier.. Two eggs left, no internal pip yet, but there is movement. I will post pics on Wed after they are all down.

Cochin Bantam x Golden Comet mutts came out strong, yellow and with furry feet.

Sorry to be a Debbie Downer but the minutes are ticking by and nothing is happening. I feel helpless. Little partridge is still trying to break out but she must be tired by now. Cheeping less & less. No one else is cheeping or moving anymore. I have not opened the incubator. Day 21 lasts for 15 more hours but I am worried. Sigh. Again, sorry to be all negative. I was so hopeful that I'd have a hatch today. Don't know what to do.

Sending lots of positive vibes your way.

Oh no, I thought you'd have babies by now! If the cheeping is getting faint, it's time to intervene if you're willing to make that step. Many people don't, I however would.

Here is a great thread on assisting a hatch.

Starting the bathroom shower with hot water, and taking your egg in there to assist with the hatch is a good way to start. I would also bring baking soda or styptic pencil or powder if you have that on hand. Just in case it bleeds a little. Basically you're just slowly pulling pieces of the shell away from where the pip is and working out from there. If you move slowly to help the chick get out, you may be able to save it. There are a lot of others who do this. You may want to consider reading about it and seeing if it's something you want to try.

Good luck! I really hope this goes well for you!
