Spook does not like being touched by other people.
Spiderwebs are almost better, even.
But Ferrerr is so right, if you work a haunted house there
is a really good chance you'll get punched, mauled or something.
Teenagers are the WORST.
I'm the undertaker.
Last year one older lady simply insisted on my dancing with her.
A waltz among the weathered headstones.
She hummed time as I whispered in her ear...
You're mine now, you know.
I'll never let you go.
So young you are, to be with me tonight.
So full of life, yet you dance in the arms of death tonight.
Stay...stay with me tonight, as the bells toll.
That was really quite interesting, dancing with her. She hummed
and I uttered complete nonsense. She was in a group of other ladies,
who stood and watched, took pictures. Quite a few others watched
also.
There was a moon that night, it wasn't quite dark were we were dancing,
almost to the edge of of the corn. Misty, fog machine was laying it low on
the ground, just about as high as the headstones.
We danced, and I was going for the next thrill past me...it was the narrowing
tunnel, with it's own thick fog...small strobe light.
I let her slip from my arms, as I dissappeared backwards into the tunnel, calling
to her...
"Come to me my darling...it is our time forever."
"Do not be afraid, my love."
"Follow me into the darkness...we will dance for all eternity."
But the dance only happened the one time. No ideal who the lady
was. Did she perhaps know me? No ideal.
Someone posted my picture on their local facebook, along with a few
other monsters...attendance that weekend was beyond belief. We
were supposed to quit at 11:00, but it just wouldn't quit. We ran to
a little after midnight a few times.
A true, and sad part of the story that we've been hit a few times. Props
destroyed, corn broke. Hard to leave some props out. Take an hour after
closing to gather the better props, take them back to the barn at night.
Building the horse drawn hearse this year, and I know better than to leave
it out. But I also know it will be a pain to bring home every night.
