Too Early for Feb Hatch-A-Long Thread??

Oh no! We are battling with poopy butts on all 4 of our little wheaten ameraucanas that just hatched. 😂 More roosters is the last thing I need. (They are super cuddly so I am expecting little cockerels)

Some of these shipped NN egg's are huge, so even if a few cockerel's hatch from them, I might keep 2 of them to help improve the size of the egg's in my current flock of hen's for the future chick's from those. I love big egg's!

Candled the 22 shipped eggs today, day 14. All look good. Most look great with a few exceptions. The membrane on the Pavlovskaya egg doesn't seem right. It only covers about 50% of the shell. Really odd looking. I keep expecting to candle it and find it's died but still plugging along. Also some aircells seem a tad large. Not enough to make changes for but worth noting.

This means I still have 38 eggs incubating! I'm so excited for next week. Might be my best hatch yet!

I love big eggs too. I always know when there's a new layer in our flock because they always start laying small eggs. I have two pullets that are Delaware and Jersey giant mix that I'm hoping will lay large eggs. They were born on Halloween so I'm hoping that they will start laying later in the spring or early summer.

Our ducks finally started laying yesterday so now we are getting pretty large eggs!

:pop Can't wait!

So I decide to get all the eggs in position for lockdown, but I’ll add the water tomorrow morning, with day 18 starting at 2pm tomorrow. I think this is a good approach. I’ll be super exhausted tomorrow night, and was worried I’ll forget something or mess something up. I already have at least 1 wiggler!

only 1 small hiccup with the homemade divider, it was a touch too small for the Marans and Icelandic eggs, so I had to take out the small divider that was for the eggs that hatch a week after these. It’s ok though, there was plenty of room on the outside for the eggs to sit. I’m getting excited!!
