Too Early for Feb Hatch-A-Long Thread??

I think they have that effect on alot of people. At first your like ??? weird??? and then your like Hmmm, I kinda think they're cute. Kinda like those Sour Patch commercials..first they're sour then they are sweet :love
I definetely fell in love with them, 250 miles one way and a hotel trip later they were sitting my coop..lol.

Update. The second baby was ready to be out around 4 this morning and now they are both merrily wreaking havoc in my incubator lol. They look like two blues can't wait to see what they look like fully grown.

I have not found any breeders local to me who really seem committed to a program. The other thing is that I find I'm less likely to want to have the same chickens as everyone else around me! Of course, it is kind of a bubble where I live, so there's that. We have no end to commercial chicken houses, but not a whole lot of people who are kindred spirits when it comes to hatching and raising birds. Lol I've been on eBay so long that I have just started messaging people, and am often surprised at how open they are to talking about what they have, when they'll list more, and so on.

cross your fingers for me...i just ordered a dozen+ of CCL from eBay.

I find that shipping eggs works out okay for me as long as I limit who I get them from to people I have had a lot of contact with have had good hatches and trust to send me great eggs.

I've got three little silkie chicks out so far. Will post pics hopefully tomorrow. :)

My iffy egg baby passed earlier today. Always sad to lose them but I was expecting it as it didn't have proper blood vessel coverage of the egg throughout incubation and the baby always moved a lot less than its siblings. The little one didn't manage to make it into a proper position either, its head was facing away from the aircell.

So sorry about the baby that didn't make it. :hugs

Glad to hear one is out and I hope the other makes it out soon! :fl
Can't wait for baby pictures lol.

I know Im fighting with myself as we speak about taking a 2 hour ride to pick up some hatching eggs she has nice polish too...
it was a fight with myself over doing it for quite a while, I'm surprised hubby went for it..lol, but he knows I love my chickens, I refer to them as my emotional support animal, lol. If I'm having a rough day, I just go out in the run and hang out with them. We brought home 1 Roo, 3 hens, 2 chicks and 4 hatching eggs that I am surprised the eggs survived, They all hatched, we'd needed to stop and eat, thankfully my car is one of those push start things, you can take the key out, lock it and leave the car running, it was hot so that is what we did leaving the a/c cranked. They stayed nice and cool, I had water bowls in there, With pit stops and eating we had almost a 6 hour ride.. the eggs were kept in a styrofoam cooler, they'd been in her incubator for a few days already, which is what shocked me they survived..lol. got the eggs home, turned on the incubator let it heat up let them rest for 2 to 3 hours then put them in. We were a hour or so from home and Charlie the Roo decided he was comfortable enough in his surrounding to start crowing...lol.
