Too Early for Feb Hatch-A-Long Thread??

Sure as hell did.

Hurry up and get better!
I just joined your march hatch I have duck eggs someone text me about and asked if I'd incubate his eggs for him.

I would tell him to get his own bator but I really want a couple ducklings šŸ˜‚ I'm sure he will gift me some

I'm probably out for March. I'd like to concentrate on this batch of chicks. And still have room to grab a few at the feed store on impulse.

I also have 15 poults ordered from Porter's Turkeys. They should arrive sometime in May. So I have those to look forward to.

Even if I said I won't hatch any chicks next month, I probably still will. lol, I just enjoy hatching entirely too much.

I forgot to share that I candled the Silkie eggs again last night. I used to be able to photograph candling much better...I'm starting to think I accidentally changed some settings on my camera.

Just did another candling. Down 3 more shipped eggs and 1 local egg. Total of 39 eggs remaining. On a happy note aircells look absolutely perfect.

What day are you on now? I have a hard time keeping all of the hatches straight, lol. Shipped eggs are always tough!

The mystery of egg with the black substance has been solved. I decided to leave the egg in the incubator until it died, and it died over night. I cracked it open and there was no mold in the egg, the chick had black feathers, and since it was stuck to the membrane, it made it look weird. The chick was fully formed, but much smaller than it should have been at this point in the game. That leaves me with 9 Icelandic eggs remaining from 12, not bad. All the others are looking great. Day 14 for most, with 1 at day 12, and 2 at day 7

I totally understand. I don't even try anymore. I have a general idea of who's doing lockdown +/- 1 day of me but that's about all I can keep track of. These eggs are day 11 and day 13. I've already pulled blanks. There were quitters.

I've had dozens and dozens shipped eggs. If I had to guess I'd say easily over 150 eggs. They're definitely a mixed bag. I just can't help myself. Although I do limit myself to only those from bordering states.
