Too Early for Feb Hatch-A-Long Thread??

Ok opened this one and can see the chick and it’s not moving. I assume it’s dead. Why is the membrane white on the one that’s moving?? Gah what do I do?

Ok help me. What do I do. I opened it and it’s alive. No internal pip. Do I break this membrane?View attachment 2020710

Breath, everything is fine while baby is in the warm incubator. This is why I like to do an eggtopsy before tossing the unhatched eggs. If anything you're giving the chick a chance it wouldn't have had otherwise and if it doesn't make it, well it wasn't going to without your intervention either. Your primary concern will be to keep the membrane moist. Do you have coconut oil?

@BluebirdHomestead have you read the assisted hatch links from before? You can still keep the assist very very minimal if you don't want to intervene by just applying some coconut oil to the membrane periodically to keep it from drying out. When the white membrane is wet or has coconut oil on it you will be able to see through it. The chick may be malpositioned which may mean that it's not going to hatch on it's own anyway but you will be able to see how it's positioned once the membrane is moist.

Thank you. *Deep Breath* Yes I have coconut oil.

Yes I read the articles but it was at midnight so retention wasn’t the best. I hadn’t seen a fully white membrane without veining in the pics that still bled when you knicked it on the edge so my brain malfunctioned. And then I got super confused when I opened that olive egg and could see the chick perfectly.
