Neck will feel hard and belly soft try and run your finger on what you exposed and see what you feel. Other option is to pick a side and try to peel the shell more on one direction.

I think you're at a point where picking at the shell is necessary, especially if it's acting like it's struggling. If you go toward the bum you can see if the yolk sac is absorbed. Nobody wants to go in too soon, but the little one needs to be able to breathe. I know it's stressful, you're doing great.

Ok so it had stopped moving completely so I assumed it was definitely dead which gave me a little more confidence to fish around with a q-tip. The head was way down there. That underbelly looking thing was a shoulder and the head was lodged straight towards the bottom of the egg.

I saw yolk so it definitely has not absorbed it all yet. I was feeling nauseated knowing the little guy passed and maybe I could have acted sooner. I got his little beak out and decided to prop him up in the incubator for a little bit longer. Just in case.

Well a couple mins later I went to take a peek and he’s opening and closing his mouth now. Mind blown.
