Too Early for Feb Hatch-A-Long Thread??

I've been casually bidding on chicks over at https://www.rarebreedauctions.com
It's where Greenfire farms sells all their spare chicks at steep discounts off their website prices.

Just low balling and dreaming for the time being. I won't "get serious" until next weekend after my hatch is complete. Then I'll know if I have room or not.

Wasn't someone building a Pita Pinta flock? They have some well prices chicks selling there now.
Me! I was trying to bid on eggs, but they got too expensive! Now I have to go check this out!

Is it the gal in Eatonton or Milledgeville? If so, I think I've talked to her before. My problem is I mostly start remembering user names only so @Mylied is basically just that name to me now :gig I had great success building my flock, and now the rebuild is harder. But, if I remember correctly, I bought most of my polish eggs between march and may, so it may be a waiting game. I do hate summer grow outs in the heat, though.

lol! Wouldn't that be hilarious if I know people I'm talking to on here...I've never considered that. I bet I'm talking the the same wonderful lady on facebook as I am on BYC. :lau :lau :lau Two different platforms are like two different worlds for me, lol. If you're livhatcher here and another name somewhere else, I'm too big of a ditz to make the connection. LOL

Promise I’m liv hatcher everywhere you could encounter me except fb where I’m Hatcher Hatchlings 😂🐣😂

I LOVE the BBS group. Right now I only have one blue and one black hen...my blue boy got gotten by a fox and I sold the other boys. There's a lady in Ohio whose birds I love and hatch rate is awesome so I'll order again as soon as she's selling. I have one silver 55 Flowery hen from Greenfire that was in one of their "Ultra Rare Breed" egg boxes I bought last summer for a ridiculously low $15. Can't wait to see yours!
Is she laying yet? Can you share pics? Did you have any trouble sexing as a chick being she was the only one? So many questions.

Good to hear about the Marans and CCls. I will have to look at the Frosted. I tend to shy away from lighter birds, just because I free range, and I feel they are moving targets. Snowball, Jr. (silkie) and Greta, my silver frisian gull, are the only ones who are mostly white right now.

I find that a lot of the issue in points south of Atlanta (where I grew up) is that people just want cheap birds. I have had people balk at $10 a polish chick which I think is inexpensive. But, a lot of people just go in tsc and impulse buy chicks. Education on diversity of breeds is important, and I have started a "Stay out of Feed Stores" mini campaign. Friends call me the "uppity chicken lady" but I really believe in breed preservation and that there is a huge difference in commercial hatchery and small farm birds. /END RANT :old
I'm Katherine in real life and down below Macon in the middle of nowhere. I've only met a handful of backyard chicken people in the real world, including Liv! :)

I'm Andrea, though I don't "think" I have met anyone from BYC in person I'm definitely questioning that now because I have a ton of poultry connections and friends locally and on facebook! I mean, I have a hard enough time remembering people's login names here and I admitted to not realizing I've had great conversations in the past with the same people simply because they changed their avatar. :lau I'm terminal. lol

I am happy to get a photo for you… But I’ll have to go track her down in the yard. The chicks were not really easy to differentiate from at birth. She lays a really nice egg and is very vocal about it when she does so! Her name is Beyoncé 😂
