That's fantastic news! Hopefully that brings some relief. I, too, use a flashlight to check to for new pips. Sometimes they're almost invisible. You're babies are gorgeous. We finally have our first pip hopefully by later tonight we will have a baby too!! It was on the back side of the egg so I couldn't see it on the camera until I came home and used the flashlight.
Now granted, I'm a bit crazy, but I mark the progression of the air sack every third or fourth day, and I candle daily.I'm fairly new to this, so sorry if this is a silly question, but what are the rings on the eggs tracking?
I keep an eye on it but don't mark every eggNow granted, I'm a bit crazy, but I mark the progression of the air sack every third or fourth day, and I candle daily.
Or more. Huh it must be nice to be able to count themWell, the Great State of Ohio has failed me on getting my tax money to me in a speedy fashion (you check the state "where's my refund" page and it's all like "your refund has been approved. It might be deposited tomorrow, or two weeks from now. We don't know which, so don't call us. If you don't have it in three weeks, maybe then call us"...), but the Feds came through for me so I got my second NR 360 purchased and set up tonight, and have 7 eggs in lock-down! Six looked very good when I switched them to the new brooder, but I think one is a late quitter (although it was clearly moving when I candled yesterday...). Hopefully going to end up with three Ayam Cemani, and three Aracauna/RIR-or-Cochin sometime around the 14/15th!
Of my 15 AC and barnyard mix clutch that are on day 8, I have 11 developing! Aaaaaand my local crack dealer just messaged me and let me know she has 2 dozen or so Silkie eggs available on the cheap because she hasn't tested fertility yet, on top of the half-dozen AC eggs I have waiting to go into the bator....
This is how I wind up with 200 chickens, isn't it?
Egg number 3 has an external pip now. We are starting to get things moving.
