Too Early for Feb Hatch-A-Long Thread??

My turner was off for a few days during about every hatch for one reasin or another. This time it didn't reset the number of days til hatch and was still in lockdown mode for the first couple days until I realized what was going on.

I candled the first bunch today (day 7) and all of the light color eggs are "swimming" and veiny. :) The marans are absolutely impossible to see through. Any suggestions on candling those? I'm weighing them, but have no clue about the air sac or development.

You have a Nurture Right? My top tip to greatly improve the built-in candler is to use black electrical tape to cover the white plastic around the light, which stops light bleed. As for seeing through darker eggs, all you can do is get a much brighter light, and just hope...

So it was a crazy 24 hours but all six of our eggs are hatched! These are eggs from my d’Uccle Millefleur cockerel and pullets. I am very happy with the fertility rate and the health of the chicks. Here is a photo of five of them lined up along the cozy coop. They are all pretty sleepy but healthy and have clean butts.

@SoftSilkie Your experience with Valor May have saved one of my chicks. Usually I wouldn’t intervene but one of my chicks was pipping all crooked. Her butt and leg were above her beak which seemed to be trapped by the dry membrane. I moistened the membrane and then pulled it away so her head could come out. About 15 min later the rest of her came out. If I hadnt read about Valor I probably wouldn’t have helped and maybe she wouldn’t have made it. Thank you.🌷

Almost all are hatched. Had to take them out since they were falling over the eggs. 4 are hatched and drying in the incubator. A couple of them in the process of zipping.
