Yes.. a friend of mine has recommended jersey giants for meat and I've wanted to try them. She has a mix of white and black but is in Europe.

I have a black jersey giant rooster and I breed him with my hens and pullets. I have 3 of his chicks that are 15 weeks. The cockerel is quite large. I'm waiting till 20 weeks to process him.

My bielefelder cockerel is a big boy. Should I expect the jersey giants to be larger than the bieles?

This is my barred rock hen next to my jersey giant cockerel. They build their structure the first year then they build their mass the second year. I wasn't supposed to get cockerels, I ordered 2 pullets. I decided to use him to my advantage by crossing him with my hens to make meat chickens. I'm quite impressed with his offspring too.

He's pretty big!! I think you're onto something with breeding him in. My friend says they're really exceptional meat birds. I'm a sucker for a giant chicken, however it turns out!

Here's one of his offspring. He's a barred rock jersey giant cross. When he stands he's taller than my standard size chickens and he's only 15 weeks.

So had an appt to run to do our taxes tonight got home at 3 had enough time to add the second set of 3 eggs who are on day 18 and pack up our information to head out. Got home and one of the 3 original eggs is now pipped. Talk about late bloomer. Hopefully the other two will as well. I have to work again tomorrow until 8pm so won't be able to assist before that.

I live in AZ, in our state thread, when I first saw them, I thought they were absolutely the ugliest little things I'd ever seen, even asked one of the ladies if it had mange or something..lol.. I got some from one of the ladies and have been hooked ever since..

I had one a long time ago. I'm thinking about maybe getting more. Mine was just a tan colored one. I called it ET

Yes I've seen her NN's and love them. Someday I'll order from her.
