Too Early for Feb Hatch-A-Long Thread??

Hope all is well in hatching land. I’ve stayed busy moving kids from brooders to transition coops and cleaning up after babies!
Quick question—is anyone on here HennyPenny Hatchery in GA? I’ve lost track of who’s who!!

Just wanted to update, I did the eggtopisy on 5 of 6 eggs and I found that 2 weren't fertil, 2 stop growth approx. 7 days, 1 dead after Interal pipp and the last is olive and can't see inside it is on day 21 today but not expecting anything to happen. I may have had bad results this hatch but have learned a lot and I want to thank everyone for their advice and assistance. I am looking forward to the March hatch with a new incubator and shipped eggs.

Spotty was DIS pointed the wrong way round . These 2 have fluffed up nicely now and even out pecking at the food and trying to work the water dish out. I'll try some more Coturnix when these are outside.

My first ever incubator hatch! They started hatching Sunday. 14 chicks, looks like 2 serama, 5 possible Onagadori, 7 yellow chicks that are polish and light Brahma crosses ( I think ). 4 eggs still in the incubator with no signs of activity. This is so cool. I let a silkie hatch eggs last fall, and have 5 serama pullets, 1 silkie pullet and a silkie/serama cross that I hope is a pullet. I culled 4 male serama chicks at 3 weeks because I am overloaded with serama cockerels.

I think I have to look up onagadori???? never heard of that

I have 3 eggs that I'm not sure if they are alive or not, they have not internally piped they are on day 21 should I start peeling back the shell where the air pocket is and try to see if they are alive or not?

I personally wait a little longer but Im no expert.

Of course, my 9th egg, a Aracauna/X which is actually on day 20 and not 21 like the others, has externally pipped....

The little chipmonk is a Aracauna crossed with either RIR or Standard Cochin (I'm leaning RIR because of color). The other eggs are Ayam Cemani. The four in "front" all have internal pips, the four in back do not.

Three of my silkie chicks have hatched so far, 6 are still alive but haven't hatched yet (three of those I'm feeling fairly confident will hatch without issue). And 4 were DIS. I'm getting a lot of bad malpositions and I hate it (6 were in malpositions that typically prevent hatching)!

I tried assisting two of the ones who didn't make it but they died around 2 hours after I managed to get them access to oxygen. I'm currently assisting two more (one head between thighs and one facing away from air cell). It's been almost 5 hours since I started and they are hanging in there, I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much though as this kind of assist has a very high mortality rate in my experience.

I was kind of expecting this wouldn't be the greatest hatch since these were eggs that weren't stored properly and that weren't turned for a couple days starting on day 7ish but I didn't think it would be quite this bad.

I've been up all night with these eggs/chicks so I'm going to try to get a little sleep in between checking to make sure the membranes stay moist, I'm worn out!

I'm so sorry to hear this time around didn't go so well.

I hope you have a lot better luck with your new incubator and get some babies for your March hatch!

Your two little ones who did hatch are just adorable!
