Too hot to cluck in Texas

Howdy and welcome from N. Central Texas! There is a good deal of information about training/dogs on this forum. I have a little Yorkie that I will never trust around a chicken. -personally think that terriers aren't a good mix for chickens (due to hunting instincts). I, too, had the dog first (and he's adored by the family) - so I just accommodate everyone. -dog resides indoors until a bathroom break is necessary (and I accompany so he doesn't dart for the birds). -chickens roam the back yard. When they're in the coop, the dog can run about the lawn for a bit. When they're out, he's in. -works fine. Good luck with your birds and Jack Russell! (many folks swear by good, thorough training - but I stick with intuition regarding instinct, personally, and keep 'em separate)

Hope you get cooler weather soon! It was 110 here in Kentucky for about three weeks last month. I'm so glad we are back to 80 degree cooler days now. It's been a lovely 60 deg. during the night lately.
