TOOOOO SLOOOOWWW

I have been having the same problem as jeria. The computer is WAY behind me in typing. I am using a house computer using Windows 10. I will try clearing the cache but I am not having this problem with any other website other than BYC. When I click on anything I get the "thinking" circle as well. I am using Microsoft edge. I'll try something else. It seems the longer I am on the site the worse it gets!

I'm also on Edge but explorer at work does the same thing. . it's better for some unknow reason

The new BYC basically = unusable for me on the only browser I intend to use, Firefox (Windows 7, updates installed, current version of Firefox and updated whenever Firefox tells me to). The website is now EXTREMELY SLOW and it makes my PC fan run HIGH - no other website does this. Also - the search function seems to have gotten dumb. It's hard to find relevant content, it brings up really random stuff. Also - the drop-down menus are no longer efficient to use. I would typically use Forums>Specific forum, but that speedy option disappears, requiring me to wait for the full page to open and then find the correct forum. Given how slow Firefox works with this website now, it is not efficient. I have cleared all my caches so that is not the issue. I manage content for a website and we are migrating to a content management system off of an html website, so I understand the issues with seeking good display on mobile and easier content development. However, this website is frankly nearly unusable to me and this is very very depressing as I SOOOO appreciate the BYC community. I won't go back to IE because of security concerns and I won't use Chrome because Google does too much spying for my taste. If you can name an otherwise secure and respectful browser that functions on Windows 7 I will try it.

MIne is still really really slow at times. but off and on. Still with typing delays you type something in and wait awhile before some or all of it appears.

OK, it looks like I was probably able to solve this problem - the issue with the BYC website seems to be a conflict relating to 32-bit Firefox and Adobe Flash. People who have that type of Firefox may experience jamming, slowness, high use of system resource problems when using this site. Since my operating system is 64-bit, I was able to install 64-bit Firefox and uninstall 32-bit Firefox, and when I opened this site, for the first time, it operated normally. A minute or so after, I did start to get the high fan-and-system resources hogging - oh - it's happening again - the fan goes on high and Firefox uses 18% of resources (typically on my hyperthreading corei7 Thinkpad, only 1% of CPU is used). I will make sure my plug-ins are updated and will report back.

OK, looks like once I went in to Tools>Add-ons>Plugins and chose "never activate" for Adobe Shockwave Flash, my PC fan is now quite again and Firefox is using 1-3% of resources. (64-bit Firefox is able to operate without Flash.) In the process, I also tested IE (Internet Explorer) and that did not have problems. So people stuck with 32-bit Firefox may need to deactivate Flash to solve their problems with slowness or switch to another browser.

I won't use firefox (had issues years ago when it was a new browser and cost me a bunch to have my PC totally wiped and re-loaded to get rid of the firefox takeover) I am on Edge most of the time and switch to IE occasionally. Mine has nothing to do with the Firefox problem you describe unless it is the same issue on more than on browser.

I did just go in and disable Shockwave, I don't think it is something I ever use anyway .
