I wish I knew that chickens went in on their own at night. When we first got them we spent the evenings rounding everyone up. One night we got home late to find them all on the roost.

I wish I knew I would want more than 10 chickens, and end up with 19, and have built a bigger coop. Ours is way too small.

On a non poultry note, I also wish I had known pantry moths lay eggs in bird seed, and I would have cleaned my parrot cage much more often and not let seed lie on the bottom of the cage, instead of dealing with a plague of evil pantry moths fluttering around our house.

I wish I'd spent more time "wasting" time watching broody/chick videos before I ever got my first chicks, and so understood that she does it so much better than we do. I would never have seen my little granddaughter burned by a heat lamp or had chick mess in the house, or had to put them (and me) through transition to the outdoors after weeks of them living inside.

I wish I knew how addicting chickens were. Lol

I wish I knew more about the different breeds of chickens before we bought our first ones!
