My girlies are the loves of my life and my darling pets. No noisy boys allowed due to neighbours! I have the pleasure of enjoying eating their eggs in different ways.

Occasionally I get a long, torpedo shaped egg and I wondered if anyone knows any reason for this? Not sure which if the girls it is. It's not very often, is it a vitamin deficiency?

Usually torpedo layers lay them all the time.
Could be stress....could be nutrition.
What all and how exactly are you feeding?
Do they have lots of coop space?

Here is the coop, run and nesting boxes. There are 8 bantam girls in total. They have 2 large hoppers with water and mash. The have a trough which is sprinkled daily with plenty of bantam pellets, they get treats of split corn and mealworms scattered and sometimes bits of cabbage or lettuce. They have free run of our garden when we are in. When we are out the are shut in the run, and when they take themselves to bed we shut the coop door. The coop has plenty of ventilation around the underside of the roof and covered holes in the sides

They have access to this every hour they are awake?
What is the protein percentage of the "bantam pellets"?
Looks kind crowded to me.
They have constant access to the water and mash and the trough of pellets which we give 2 mugfuls every morning. This usually lasts most of the day, they get a handful of dried meal worms as a treat in the morning and a handful of split corn before bed. They are all happy and healthy apart from one episode of bumblefoot and an eye infection, both now sorted and fine and never had any other problems in the 3 years we have kept them.

Not sure on the percentage, I haven't got the bag as we keep all our feeds in separate sealed buckets. We get it from our local farm supply store
