That makes two of us. These girls...I'm telling you. I keep telling them it is too hot for this.

Where do you all get your geese? I want a boy and a girl and cant aseem to find them ANY WHERE! All the hatcheries around here have minimun orders of 5 chicks and are straight run only. :( Any suggestions?

Well, geese are seasonal layers, and you JUST missed the gosling "season.". All the hatcheries were out for 2013 when I ordered early last month, but Ideal Poultry's website has a "notify me" feature, which I used . They had a late hatch and I was able to get my three female goslings in a May 22nd hatch.

I wanted to order from Metzer Farms, but it was too late there.

Not very many feed stores carry goslings, as they grow SO fast and are big eaters; if they don't sell, they're consuming a lot of feed and need more and more space much more quickly than chicks.

You might find a private breeder, maybe even here on BYC.

I've been looking for Toulouse geese for about 3 years now in my area. Unfortunately everyone I know who has them keeps the goslings or they dont have any fertile eggs so no babies. For some reason it never occurred to me to even as ask here, until now lol. I will have to check into how to get on a wait list of sorts for a hatchery if I cant find anything here. I'd even take a few hatching eggs to try hatching as I hatch chicken eggs. But I havent had the opportunity to try hatching goose eggs.

You may have to wait till next spring now most geese are at the end of mating season, well almost all my 2 are still at it and my goose Missy laid her 55 th egg today. And this is her first year.

The ones I have checked haven't been fertile. Which I understand isn't that unusual for first year layers.

Thank you for the info all of you! Im on a notify me list for next spring so hopefully I will get my pair then! Cant wait!

I finally got my pictures from Trina's trip to school! She swam in the sink and in the "sink" that is the bottom of the wet table.

Trina also got her new diaper from Party Fowl on etsy! It's so adorable and fits GREAT! S glad to have her out of the tail covering baby diapers. I think this will make her much happier.

I love the diapers! I made some for one of my chickens that hatched this december. It was way to cold for her to be outside in february. Heck even now its still chilly at night and we are lucky if it hits 70 during the day. Been a cold spring here in WI!

I'm so excited. I could hear peeping in at least 1 of the 3 eggs the goose has been sitting on. Tuesday will be 30 days give or take. Woohoo. I was worried they wouldn't do anything. I still won't count my goose before they hatch though lol.
