Toulouse Geese Thread

~Sigh~ Well, after weeks of discussions, arguments and such, Dave and I decided to divest ourselves of the Toulouse geese in the flock. Not because we don't like them, but we've got 26 geese and it's becoming unmanageable. Instead of consigning Buddy and Molly to freezer camp, we're working on getting them new homes. If you know of anyone in the area of WI, IL, IA, MN ...we're located in South Central WI, near the border. I had one person that I had hoped wanted them from Racine, but she's declined. Here's Buddy with the plain beak

And Molly with this year's hatch. She has a black tip to her beak. The kids are all grown, and doing well on their own. She's a good Mom...so if you know of anyone, please let me know. And yes, that's an African goose behind her. If anyone knows anywhere else I should offer up these two, please let me know of that as well. Thanks! Brenda
Did you post on the rehoming thread here on BYC? and also the buy sell trad thread here? and of course in the "where am I where are you" thread look up you state and post there. of course you may already know this, I do hope some will give them a forever home. Decision can sure be hard at times.

I am actually!
Oh my gosh

Are you still looking for a goose/gander? I'm near Birmingham and have quite a few sebastopols. I'm sure I could find you a couple of juveniles for companions.

WOW!!!!!

I don't think I have ever seen a prettier gaggle of geese!!!!! (except mine and everyone else's of course). Seriously, your pictures have made me think about Sabastopol geese as my next purchase.

Thanks guys -- I love them. Grew out more than usual this year to try to up my quality breeding pairs for next season. I won't keep nearly as many for sure. You just can't tell anything about those adorable goslings when they look like this. heehee

Hi all, I have a question on breeding.. My Gabby has started laying and with winter approaching should I let her hatch? I'm just worried the little ones will have a hard time with the cold. It gets pretty cold here in Virginia, lots of snow and as low as single digits. If she does hatch, do I take the goslings away for a few weeks until they are a little bit bigger or do I let her handle things? Thx much!
