Toulouse Geese Thread

Well with the unseasonably warm weather we've had lately here in michigan, my goose laid her first egg yesterday! She and her mate were born memorial day of last year. She did make her nest in some brush that is in their pen area, and used leaves and some grass for the nest. I was wondering when I would see her first egg as the geese have been mating the past week or two.

Congratulations!!

Just ordered 2 Toulouse geese today (with a buff and African as well) both hens as i don't really care about breeding just for pets and guards. but this is so exciting, getting my first geese in the fall so thought i would join the threads for the breeds i plan on getting. :)

That's great. I just ordered 2 Toulouse females yesterday. But my ship date is April 19. Where did you order from?

Your just a bit farther north than I am. Are they able to sex them for you. Or will you be playing the guessing game. I hatched 2 Toulouse/Brown Chinese last year and both turned out to be ganders. Had to get them some girl friends. I hope you enjoy your babies.

am getting mine as mature geese 12-20 weeks of age, so the fun part will be trying to tame them and get them used to me :) but they sell them and you can chose the sex of the bird if you order them as mature birds.

That sounds great. I would have bought teenagers if I could have found them. Do not seem to be available around here. I know you will love them from the start. They will just take a little longer to love you back. Wishing you all the luck
