Here is my pair, Harold and Maude. He is always following behind her, they are inseparable. But here's my question: When will they mate and when will she lay an egg? I got them this past June, they were 2 years old. So they have been very happy with me for the last 5 months and very attached to us- honking when they see us or hear our voices or even when they hear us come outside. They will follow us anywhere but pretty much spend the day to themselves, preening, sunning, swimming, foraging and eating pellets. They have a large 1/3 acre spring-fed pond all to themselves. I adore them!

Probably won't lay until the spring is my guess.

Very pretty couple! :love

Very nice, he looks very similar to our largest production toulouse coloring and size wise. You are looking at spring time as geese area typically seasonal layers.

They are a lovely pair.

so did she not lay any eggs when I first got them this spring because they were stressed by being moved to their new home with me?

You stated you got them in June (which is summer), she had already laid and was most likely done. They dont lay a large number of eggs, 30-40 is very common per season depending on breed some are less some are more.

I have to share with ya'll how sweet it is to watch Sammy and Missy together, because of the frigid/snowy weather this past week i opened the gate that was separating my older Muscovies from the rest of the flock so they could get a bit out of the weather, well one of those older ducks was the duck that not only hatched my gander but was also his mate for 5 yrs. Well i have to tell you he is still in love with her but he is bonded with Missy, this afternoon I went out to check on everyone and there was Sammy and Missy laying together sleeping.

I really feel now that although he will always look at the Scovie as his mama he is truly at one with Missy. He finally knows he's a goose.

I'll have to get some updated pics of the 2.
