Ok, good I just went out and looked at my dewlap and 'she' has orange around her eyes, by the way she acts I believe she is a she lol. My boss also came out and vent sexed her and thinks its a goose too.Poultry, my geese have the same orange rim as my ganders.
I guess next time I should read everything, I just skimed through. My bad lolSorry to confuse y'all with the orange eye rim thing, I was just curious because one of mine has it (and only the top of the eyes, not all way around 'em) and the other Toulouse has grey eye rims. I saw the orange on some of the geese/ganders in the photos here and wondered if it meant anything at all.
Very interesting how color of bill and feet can change acording to diet! I have a quick question, I have one toulouse that when ever it rains or she takes a bath her feathers get soaked, like her feathers are not covered in the oils they produce to repell water, would anyone know whay that happens? I will ty to post a picture to help descibe what I mean.I see a bit of variation depending on age, nutrition and genetics. I have varying shades of yellow to orange to pink. I have a goose that looked brownish in beak and eyes when i got her, but with good nutrition, she has gotten much oranger. When my gander had surgery and was on heavy meds, he turned yellow, but is getting back to his orange color again slowly. And then I have a blind goose that was grey when I got her and is turning rose colored pink. But mostly, the healthy vigorous ones are bright orange in beak and eye rim.
