Is it because of the ducks you think, when my gander only had ducks to mate with he was still pretty hateful to everyone. It maybe your Kate thinks of one of the ducks as his mate or maybe a couple of them, and he feels Angus is trying to move in on his girls. You could get them some girls and they may or may not pair up, I had to literally remove the ducks that my gander was sweet on, now he is paired up with his goose girlfriend, I put the ducks in separate part of our property where he can't see them. It took from Aug till this past month Jan till he was really sold on her thats when mating season started. How are the boys acting towards each other today? when my Scovie drakes get into it and the youngest gets totally humiliated by the dominant drake he pretty much stays clear of his dad but they can still be in the same area together. Angus probably looks at Madge as a rival too, Boy do i have a hard time keeping up with your names and genders LOLWell, I am guessing I have two ganders instead of a pair of Toulouse. They're both about 17 months old now. Have never seen any nesting behavior, never found any eggs I could attribute to geese. Kate is very duck-centric; she .....err..... Well, anyway, when the Cayugas hatched last year, Kate guarded the group, assisted the mamma duck with the 14 ducklings as they waddled from place to place, slept, swam, etc.
Angus has taken a dislike to Madge, the MW Tom Turkey (see, I have some difficulty with genders) and is obsessed with keeping him from hand-feeding treat time.
In the last few days, Kate has mounted this or that duck. Kate always stays with the ducks at night; Angus has always gone into the coop at night with the chickens and turkeys.
Yesterday afternoon, Kate and Angus got into quite a row - the at time ever. Neck battles and biting, chasing... No real damage but not just a "move away" argument.
So. I was happy with two geese, but not if they will fight after growing up together. Do I need to get them some girls?
