So he has a favorite? My gander has favorite ducks that he likes and the rest he doesn't. But the only duck who can harass the geese is my Muscovy drake who is top drake right now, he even has the gander shaking in his boots.
That hilarious, just proves that geese are big sissies actually.
I've never seen that behavior in my gander and goose, sounds more like 2 ganders, or maybe 2 young just beginning to sexually mature geese that don't quite know what to doOK I just don't know if this is a mating or dominance thing. Tonight the two geese were taking turns dunking their heads in a bucket and then they started 'necking' each other and nipping at each other's wings. They didn't actually take any feathers out but they were really pushing and shoving at each other - kind of like my turkeys when they are re establishing their pecking order.
Then she mounted him twice and he tried to mount her but didn't succeed. On her part, it seemed like a dominance thing but I don't know.
The most frustrating thing is that I thought I was videoing it, but the start button didn't go!Sorry!

Geese can be friendly but not like a dog, they will be a bit much for small children and should always be supervised when out around geese especially ganders during breeding season and females on a nest. They hurt when they bite, and it's nice if you can have 2 since they are flock animals and like their own kind. When my grankids come to visit I always am outside with them if they want to go into fence where geese are and make sure the youngest doesn't tease because geese remember things like that . Very important to teach children to respect them. They need to have a house of some kind where they can sleep at night and be protected from preds. will need a bucket for water because it's very important for them to be able to wash out the nares and eyes for health, they do fine on the same feed as chickens but need to be able to get to grass since it's a big part of their diet. i supplement in the winter with grass hay and kale, collards and romaine lettuce. since we don't have anything green growing in the winter. If you plan to free range you'll need to be mindful of the fact that geese cannot protect themselves from any predator, they are loud and will sound an alarm but have no defense at all. and there are alot of predators that would love goose dinner. including neighbor hood dogs. I have one Toulouse goose got her at 4 months old now she is 10 months old and she has a wonderful personality doesn't want me to touch her but will come and hang out with me when i'm outside, My other [gander] is and Embden Of the 2 I would pick Toulouse for children. But then again every goose has it's own distinct personality. They also like to bath so a kiddie pool or tub of some kind would be nice for them. Hope I've helped some.
Maybe maybe not , My geese and ducks tolerate each other but could not sleep inside together. My geese have their own stall my ducks theirs. On the water they may do okay if big enough they can have their own space if they want. If started off together as ducklings and goslings they may do better together.
