Toulouse Geese Thread

Well we are up to 21 now. Wondering weather she will ever quit!! Seeing as they are just our guard geese it doesn't matter much if she sets but it would be cute to see the babies running around!
That's why too many eggs for 1 goose to sit, why not split down the middle you keep half give the rest to your friend. Mine is up to 16 and I have whittled it down to 8 will probably go even lower soon.

MLyd, is she sitting tight on them still? If so, she´ll probably be fine with the 8.
livin she was on her nest all day yesterday till right before bedtime she came out had some food and lots of water walked around a bit then went right back inside, this morning when I went out to let everyone out for the day she was in such a hurry to get outside she could hardly wait for me to open the door, came out hasn't been back in yet. I went in and looked she laid #16 so I guess she must have just been feeling the urge to lay instead or brooding. Oh well.

I once had a goose in with some goslings that I wanted her to adopt, as her previous attempts at goslings didn´t work out well. Well, she wasn´t happy at all, so I let her out for a while, planning to try again later, and she shot off to a nest I´d made up to attract another goose, and promptly plopped one in there! She seemed to be running with her legs crossed!

She laid almost every day, until she had 6, then sat on them, her 2nd brood, and this time they all hatched, as you know. It was so funny to see her, though, so desperate to get to the nest!
So, where´s Missy´s nest, then, in relation to the shed? Can you not fix up some kind of fencing around her nest and keep her close, as maybe her habit of going indoors is what´s interfering? I´d be surprised, I have to say, as if she really wants to brood, she will. but just a thought...funny how geese are, after all.

Just got my first Toulouse last night, a breeding pair, George and Gracie. I am super happy. the previous owner also gave me two of Gracie's eggs along and we will put them in the incubator tonight.
