Tractor build overkill

Lol! I think I’ve got it figured... you said “lawnmower” and I pictured the commercial walk behind power driven Hondas I used to get from my father... you’re talking about using a riding lawnmower to pull it? I don’t think my chickens would mind the noise... they put up with my 10,000 watt peak 8000 continuous running Briggs generator, and before that my evenlouder 6800 Honda powered Xstream one running fairly regularly near them... only complaints I’ve gotten is the occasional mention from our neighbor about 1/2 mile away and at the top of the cliff, and it’s just a “you know we can see your house site and hear your generator at night” comment really not much of a complaint...

My old Briggs engines are long stroke, have more of a thump than a whine like the late model engines. The newest engine I run regularly, is a 1989, and I consider it too new. But, the thought of motorizing a chicken tractor is intriguing...like I said in my introduction...the build is my interest, the rest of the family wants the chickens. When the coop/tractor is complete, I am tearing another Simplicity down, and finishing a 1947 Farmall A rebuild. Then, there are the clocks, and a couple old Yazoos...

Too bad you’re not closer... I’d consider smuggling you over the border into Canada! So much I need to learn. We’ve got an early ‘50’s Harvester International that needs a rebuild. Hubby was a little thinner back then!

Piece of cake. Roll it into the shop, jack it up, put a stand under the bell housing. Start taking the engine apart. You will need a few special tools to remove the sleeves in place, or remove the engine and take it to the machine shop of your choice. Now the fun begins...the rebuild kits are available for around $1,000 American. New sleeves, rings, bearings and gaskets. Go for it!

The stand under the bell housing is not necessary if you are going to build the engine in the tractor. If you remove the engine, you will first have to remove the front end, a few bolts will allow that. You may not be considering a rebuild..let me know what the problem really is

I’ve kind of toyed with the thought of a pull out tray like a drawer without sides for a poop board under roosts so you could just scrape it off the sides. You can get some really heavy duty metal under mount drawer slides... I’ve seen them in stealth camper van builds rated for like 100lbs. I think just a straight pull out drawer that big would be too hard to handle on a regular basis. It’s a cool idea...

I am framing for a 2 foot wide drawer. If I use it, ok, if not, will make a floor section to put over the top. Considering an access door hinged on top, actually, the entire side would swing up to allow access for cleaning, just drag it all to one side to scrape into wheelbarrow, then? Still considering
