Just a comment here - TSC has that minimum because there are quite a few states where there are laws specifying these things.Yes, I don't like the 6 chick minimum TSC has.
Thats good to know, I know use to you could get colored dyed chicks for easter will did this once, and ended up with a rooster when we found he was mean and would chase us and try to claw us. And so far our TSC chickens are doing great and have gotten big, and love to talk to you when you go outside to the coop.Just a comment here - TSC has that minimum because there are quite a few states where there are laws specifying these things.
I live in Virginia, and because of people buying chicks for easter baskets (and then just letting them die/abandoning them/etc), you legally can't sell someone less than 6 without them signing an affidavit saying that they're currently raising other chicks.
I got my chicks from TSC and they use a hatchery called Frey's. I ordered 10 chicks and they gave me two extra for free! They used a hatchery called Frey's. (In canada)
