Tractor Supply Chicks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Since I live in canada I think my TSC stores are a ton different. The one that I know of does not carry live chicks. You have to order chicks ahead of time. On Easter weekend I ordered 5 barred Plymouth rocks and I am still waiting for my chicks to come in May 21. If you order less than 8? Chicks you have to pay an additional 8$. They most definitely don't sell any rare or even ornamental breed. Only common layers and leghorns. :/ I'm still super excited to get my chickies anywho <3 :)

I rummaged through assorted bantam tub and ended up with 2 white Silkie (both roos) 2 cochinfrizzles (male & female) 1 black Silkie (female) and one Brahma Bantu (female). I got lucky with sexes. I needed a couple roos. I nearly fainted when both Cochin were frizzled. They were the neediest and puniest birds I've ever had. They have taken so much work but turned out to be pretty good looking birds

One of my brooder lamps broke, and they were out of new ones, so a friend of mine who works there gave me a used one! I was thrilled. Also, the manager is a friend of mine, so she ordered two Ameracaunas for me. One arrived from the hatchery dead, so they asked if I wanted a Red Star for free. I've heard they're great layers but that they don't live as long as the others because they lay so often. I'm going to try not to get too attached. :hit

Home depot carries the brooder like lights, where I bought mine, if you have a atwoods they had brooder lights, I just looked at the capicity the light will handle making sure it will take a 250 watt bulb, though I don't use that bulb as its too hot now using a 100 watt reptile bulb working good so far fixing to drop down the wattage though since when pick them up they ar pretty warm. I did also find a good heavy duty smaller light will take a 75 watt bulb will be nice since its not as big round as the one I have now.

I read the CDC report on the link you attached, and it sounds like Mt. Healthy should just be avoided. They've been linked to salmonella outbreaks the past three years. Seems like they would have made efforts to clean things up.
