Tractor Supply Chicks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

main thing I know and it sounds very cheap , where I live the TC throws away the lamps feeders n bins the chicks are in when chick days are over . They are not allowed to sell them .

I went to TSC shortly before close last Saturday to get a bag of food; turns out it was the last day for chick days and they were down to two ducks. The workers there begged me to take them and offered them for 25 cents each along with two free feeders, a waterer, and several feed coupons. I needed the feeders and waterer anyway, so I got over $30 worth of product that I would have bought anyway and two cuties for 50 cents total! The workers were thrilled that they didn't have to throw that stuff out. I would never have the courage to ask for it, but hanging out by the pens when the workers want to clear the space is definitely worth the effort. As a bonus, the two ducklings I'd gotten the previous week are so much happier with the extra friends.

well went to tsc asked about tubs used for chicks said they sell them. was told every state is different as far as laws so you cant get them free nor do they throw out..oh well good try anyway..my ss chicks

Sometimes the hatchery messes up the labels they stick in the boxes too... And when not everyone at the store is knowledgeable about what breeds are what, or cares enough to double check, chicks are sometimes put out under the wrong signage... Last week we got in a box that said California Greys... Um.. I don't think so... CGs are white chicks... These were either Doms or Barred Rocks (I didn't think to look at their combs to see which)... If I see it I try to fix it...

California greys are a barred chicken with a single comb that lays LOTS of white eggs. They are not a sex-link and will breed true.

I appreciate the feed back I'm new to the chicken world. I have barred Plymouth rocks, and they were slow growers until one day I went outside, and they were huge. They are rougher on my younger birds.

Wow is right. I always assumed they cleaned the tubs and used them again next year. I know the manager and main cashier but I do not assume that they know me (unless it's "that lady who got 20 bags of Omeg feed" LOL) so I wouldn't be able to have the nerve to ask.

CG

Up until this year the feeders, waterers, and lights were reused, this year everything except the tanks are tossed... the tanks are cleaned, bleached, and put back outside. It's company policy.. not a state by state thing..
