Tractor Supply Chicks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We bought chicks from TSC on Sunday. The bin they were in was marked Cornish Rock, but the guy said they were pullets. There were yellow chicks and brown chicks. We picked all 6 brown ones. They have tiny tail feathers. TSC said they think the chicks are 1 week old. Does anyone know how to tell if they are really girls?

Actually, I got my silkie from Tractor Supply. There was a bin of assorted bantams. I just looked around for the fluffy ones with feathered feet and found my silkie

she won best of variety at the fair too!

Silkies will have 5 feathered toes and dark skin. If your bantams have 4 toes, chances are they are cochins...........

No, no ornamental or rare chicks.

If they did, I'd be there in a heartbeat! Still, I wonder what they include in their Bantam special. Bantam varieties of larger chickens? Old English? Wish they had more details!

My TSC had silkies last year in the mixed bantam bin. Not the prettiest! He sounds like a clown horn when he crows.

Although, if they were a week old when you got them, it's probably too late now..........

Good luck since the people working there probably will have no idea. They sure don't at the local one.
One way to tell if they have a clue about what they are doing or not is to point to the pullet bin and ask what breed they are if they say “They are pullets” than they have no clue.

P.S. I do not think ours even know they are chicks...

they usually hold the common breeds, a few weeks back I got black and red stars and california whites. They usually have a good selection

Tomorrow I will be going to TSC and getting 6 New Hampshires. That's the breed DH wanted and I got his okay to get them. We already have 13 - 3 week old chicks we bought from TSC. As a matter of fact, I was so suprised when I looked at the size of those chicks compared to the ones here at the house! I knew that they had grown but not by that much! LOL

So, the brooder gets brought back into the house (after cleaning with a bleach solution) and new babies will be brought in tomorrow!
