A rooster on a leash... I need to see. And furthermore must know how you taught him to go along with it!!!!!!I am only about a year into the chicken world but I can say this...instant gratification is great but if you want a specific breed or gender you should order from a reputable hatchery. I didn't do a lot of research when I first placed an order and out of my 8 "hens" 6 turned out to be roosters. Like you I had spent many hours with them and couldn't imagine letting them go but I was able to find a local farm that had a "petting" zoo and where happy to take them. I did keep one roo that is now leash trainedbut I will add that our chickens are treated more as pets rather than "livestock".
