Tractor/trailer coop build

I have several smaller(4ft. X 8ft)portable coops. Some with shed roofs(like in your design) others with gable roofs and one with a gambrel roof. None have been moved or overturned by the wind. Just moving your coop around your property. You shouldn’t reach speeds that will cause problems with your coop trying to take flight. Like others have stated. Make sure your rafters can support a snow load and get the right pitch and overhangs for wet weather protection.

Such an advantage for your coop to be built on a trailer. As long as your ventilation sources are big enough, above where they roost and on opposite sides of each other, which your plan looks like they are, you can move the trailer around and angle it to maximize shade and airflow during hot months and shelter and evaporation during cold months.

awesome info, thank you. what pitch would you suggest? right now i have it 8' tallest side, down to 6 feet, seems steep. would love 6'6" min height all around if possible.

thanks for checking in, and taking an interest in what we have going on over here. feels good to have some support in this endeavor.

@BayBuzzard, do you have to get onto the roof to build it?

Also, what kind of weather will it have to withstand? Snow load? Heavy rains or winds?

@aart, thanks for the graphic.
I do not think I will have to be "on" the roof very much, if at all, as it is only 8feet wide at max. So I will be able to reach the middle of the roof from any side. ladders and saw borses for scaffolding ;)

I don’t like to go below a 3:12 pitch. Which will give you 12 inches of rise per 4 feet of run. If your trailer is 8 feet long, it will give you the height requirement you are wanting.

I did a quick pitch calculator. Seems my 8' sq roof is a 3:12 pitch @ 24" rise over the 96" run. 25% grade/slope.

This is a little less slope than what I had designed which rings in at appx, 4.5:12
