Tractor/trailer coop build

Good heavy EDPM could work, I'd not use the thinner poly type pond liner.
I have heavy duty foam backed vinyl on both floor and poop boards,
has held up pretty well for 9 years now.
Nice aart, yes I have heavy duty, wildly thick durometer black rubber pond liner. pricey stuff, so i hate to see it sitting around collecting dust. will do trials with it over the summer, and report back on its efficacy.

i may just source a couple of these, i think i want plastic removable, as opposed to stationary wooden nest boxes
I have that litter box, and my chickens won't use it, so I turned it into a foot spa for treating bumblefoot haha. Doesn't mean yours won't, but mine had a preference for wooden nest boxes.

A brick or two in front would work as "steps" since the lip is kind of thin for them to step up on to get in.

Thank you for the heads up. I did read a bunch on it last night. Seems some birds just love the wood. So I will continue to formulate my best build possible.

I suspect that new layers would get accustomed to whatever nest they have available at the time they first come into lay.

Nests, like roosts, seem to be one of those things where the owners care more about them than the chickens do. ;)

x2. I was using a small dog house as a nest box at the time, which the birds seemed to like, so when I added the plastic litter box, it was a resounding no from the birds.

coming along @MadGardener, thanks for asking.

We are to the point of painting/staining, so its slow now waiting for decent temps and a stretch of weather to prepaint the sides before assy.

We are thinking a stain on the outside t1-11, and a gloss white oil base on the inside.

Stay tuned. I will be cutting hardwarecloth soon, and disassembling the crib for painting.

Hello all, hope things are decent out there. Def odd and trying times. But let’s keep our eyes 👀 on the prize, 😎

I have attached predator guard, and remocked the inside.

Poop board now 30” high, and 36” clearance to the wall. Seems decent. Poop board 16” wide, and nesting boxes under the board, 16” clearance under nests to maximize the small space.

Cheers
