Trader Joes & Other Grocery Store Egg Hatching Club - Are you a Member

yes it did!!! but none of my tj eggs have even pipped yet (day 20) whereas 3 of my others have hatched and around 20 hothers have pipped

Just bought a dozen fertile eggs from Trader Joe's in San Carlos. Julian date listed was 100 (making it day 8 today )and Enjoy By date is May 9. I have a first-time broody Australorp who has been incubating 2 golf balls for the past week and a half and I'll be placing these under her tonight. This is my first attempt at hatching!

Well, I removed 4 eggs from the fridge that were up to 13 days old and put them into the incubator along with the more recent non-refrigerated eggs and so far they are all developing. I was surprised to see all 4 showing normal development thus far at day 9.

An update on my 12 Trader Joe eggs which are now 5 days under my broody:

Removed 4 eggs that were showing up clear after candling. Broke them open and they appeared to be unfertilized. (Though I'm not an expert, the white spot was very small and not like a bullseye)

6 eggs are showing blood vessels.

1 egg looks like it might have started forming but then died... minimal vessels, and sloshy

1 egg looks like it might have a blood ring either that or the spider-looking vessel thing is very faint (and smallish compared to the other good eggs) but I'll check again at day 7

I feel like I'm harassing my easy-going broody too much by checking eggs 2x a day so I'm going to leave her alone until Friday evening for a Day 7 checkpoint.

3/12 hatched, 1 didn't pip internally, and one drowned ( i think) while trying to hatch.

Ill post a picture of Simba soon. i called him samba because he has a black dot on his head so joey didn't really fit. Also i have another chick that has a black streak on its beak named scar so the name was even better fitting.
