Trader Joes & Other Grocery Store Egg Hatching Club - Are you a Member

While out at a class up in Santa Fe I decided to stop into the Trader Joe's there for some groceries.  The fertile eggs were Day 357...today is 361!   Picked up 3 dozen.  Really lovely air cells on them and good shells.  Looking forward to starting 35 of them tomorrow.

(I dropped one....)

You guys are lucky!!! I have been watching the TJ in Sarasota and Syracuse and no luck!!!

Best of luck on that hatch!

A quick Day 4 candle on a couple of eggs just for yuks and LOTS of veins.

A fellow hatcher commented that the fertility on the TJ's seems to have gotten better lately. Is it the season? I dunno. Just happy to have something viable in the incubator as to get out to New Mexico they tend to be well-traveled.

The double is my TJ hen's first egg and the bigger single is from one of my year old hens.

Funny, the bullseye on one of the little yolks looks like a fertilized egg, no? It can't be though since I have no roos.

Shortly after this pic, my husband proceeded to destroy the egg by attempting a sunny side down.

Double yolk eggs actually have a higher rate of parthenogenesis, so that very well could be a fertile bullseye! Parthenogenetic embryos in chickens aren't viable, so even if incubated it wouldn't have hatched, but a chick would have started to develop if it was set. I think your hen won the lottery for awesome first eggs!

I want to join! I always like a challenge! The Trader Joe's that is nearest me is two hours away! Any one know what other stores sell fertile eggs? I live on the west coast. Let me know, in the mean time I will just read.
