Trader Joes & Other Grocery Store Egg Hatching Club - Are you a Member

ok so we are headed to tj and whole foods as i type, problem is i dont know how to read julian dates to know which eggs are the freshest. can anyone help me out quickly? i also have saw people saying not all trader joes sell fertile eggs, so i hope the one in rochester hills, mi does. if not there are more close by lol.

Well you're in luck, Julien date is the day of the year. So Jan 1 is 001, Jan 2 is 002, etc. Today is Jan 24 so the Julien would be 024. At TJs the fertile eggs have green label and are clearly marked . also it doesn't hurt to ask if they have something fresher in back.

What a fun thread! My mister is making me an incubator and I think I will try this to test it out so I don't use eggspensive eggs

ok so today i learned tj in michigan do not carry fertile eggs. WF does carry fertile eggs.

the date on whole foods eggs was 1/12
we got 3 Dozen

we also got 3 Dozen free range organic brown eggs, cracked 2 open they are fertile even though the carton does not say they are.

so in 22 Days we will know if 12 Day old fertile branded eggs will hatch and if the non marked free range eggs will hatch. The free range eggs were from 1/21.
