I have 21 eggs that made it to lock down: 15 from Trader Joe, 2 from Clark's and 4 from my hens. Started out with 2 dozen TJ and 1 dozen Clark's Nutrition store.

My 4 year-old granddaughter is visiting and came and said "Grandma the light is off can I turn it on?" Of course I said yes without asking what light she was talking about. Went to check my incubator shortly after that and the thermometer on one end said 106 and the other end said 103.6. Yikes! I will remember to ask what light from now on. That was day 11 and today I candled and had 21 still look good.

First TJ hatched Monday. I have 9 eggs hatched so far but 2 are from my hens. One of the eggs from Clark's Nutrition store has pipped. I really hope it makes it since those are brown eggs and I'm curious what the hens are.

All the whole foods eggs we have in the bator are brown, from looking into it i guess it is likely it is just a production brown layer from a red sex link crossed to a white leghorn.....and egg laying machines.

I shot a video of my TJ's chicks and BBS Australorps yesterday.

You might want to turn the sound down--The Roosters get excited when I work with the babies....

Thanks for posting that, Ron! There were lots of good shots that I could show DH the difference between TJ boys and girls. I only noticed a few of mine maybe combing up, but then they're still pretty fresh at just 10 days old....little nubby combs, actually.

Oh my! I first read that and thought "Boy have I got a lot to learn. She could tell all that just by candling an egg?" But then I read it again and figured it out. Maybe some kind of senior moment

I'd also like to say thanks for that video. I'm surprised at how easy it is to tell the sex at only one month.

Looks like my final numbers are 7 TJ, 2 homegrown hens, and 1 Clark's Nutrition Store. But they all look just alike so I can't tell them apart.
