Trader Joes & Other Grocery Store Egg Hatching Club - Are you a Member

I thought that was you!

Thanks for the reminder I am very interested in seeing if they develop or if the fertile eggs are from parthenogenesis. If they are from parthenogenesis, then they will develop and stop.

Love it!

Hi all,
Just blitzing through your thread and would like to report that I saw my first carton of fertile grocery store eggs while on Christmas vacation in PA in a Giant grocery store. T'was tempting, but I was at the inlaws' house and they wouldn't understand (they're not animal people). Now I'm back in the Detroit metro and I've only got my own flock's fertile eggs to hatch-eheheh. Apparently we like our eggs a lot less roostered than those in Pennsylvania because I can't find fertile grocery eggs here, even in Trader Joe's.

Are they all feathering out plain white? Or are some developing spots as if they are dominate white?
Some have spots--or smudges. The spots gray to blue. Other have an orange color on them while some are pure white.

Mostly the look like Austra whites.

All the times I've hatched out Trader Joes eggs they always hatch out either white/yellow or yellow with orange shading but they always feather out plain white. Are yours developing orange color feathers or just down ? I'd love to hatch out some colored chicks that feather out colored too. Do you know if it's the TJ or WF chicks that are that are colored ?

More of the Whole foods chicks have orange.

One of the hens from last year was bigger and had orange on her. She was sold though.

I will keep updating as they grow out. I will likely be selling some at 6 weeks old. I want to keep 5 of the pullets this year.
