Look for their free range in green print (TJs) and a brand called Vital Farms at whole foods. 3 of the 6 I put in the bator Sunday look promising (VFs)

I'm wonder how our incubation is going? Does it look good for the Vital eggs?

O.K. Looks like I have 17 out of 48 eggs that looked good when I candled them. I accidentally cracked one of the 48 but that still leaves 30 bad eggs. Normally that would seem pretty dismal but these are eggs from the grocery store and I did transport them all the way from Tucson, AZ to Chattanooga, TN both flying and driving. Anyhow, at least it wasn't a total bust like last time. I made sure not to X-Ray the eggs at the airport. One thing I love about these white eggs is how easy it is to candle them.

Yeah...$3/dozen. If I get 8 hy-line pullets for the $12 I paid then I'm doing pretty well. I might keep a roo and see how well the chicks sell.

Keep an eye on the blue isbar/EE/australorp egg. It looks suspiciously like the beginning of the dreaded blood ring happening.

That happens on day 3 this is day 10 that is a vein my friend.

That is good news. The concern I had is it's not very branch-y like most yolk veins are...rather straight.
