Ok....I am soooo super excited! My son and I took a trip yesterday to the next state over to do some school clothes and other misc. shopping...I happen to drive by the Whole Foods Market. Well I went in and was checking out the eggs...my incubators are running now and I am expected some more eggs to be shipped on Monday..so what harm would a few more do right? Well as I was standing there looking through the eggs I see a sign that says "I am local!" I found some eggs that come from local farmers just up the road. Woot Woot. Brown eggs...my guess is they are RIR or a hybrid. I bought a dozen and then a six pack of another free range organic...they are white..look like white leghorn eggs. Well we got home and I cracked open two of the white eggs...they do not appear to be fertile. Tried the brown ones...they were sold in six packs as well...one from each pack. One was fertile, one was not. So I want to just go ahead and set all the brown ones. Don't think I will bother with the white ones.
So for those of you who have set the bought eggs...do you give them some time to settle? I drove them home this afternoon...about 200 miles. They are now just sitting on my counter, but still feel cool. Should I let them sit over night and put them in the incubator tomorrow morning, or just give them a few more hours to "warm" up to my room temp tonight?
