There's a cross of Australorp and Leghorn which gives a dotted chick....makes me think that might be it if the primaries are coming in white.

As far as yellow chicks from brown eggs, there's several possibilities.... (1) They're sex-link males or (2) they're mutts or mixed breed (such as a sex-link hen bred to something else).

It will be interesting to see what the chicks mature to..... Sure did enjoy the chick cam, Pele!

I went in to HoodRiver to get some spent grains for my chickens ( they didnt have any by the time I got there even though It had only been a few hours since I called

Use by date of Jan 31st and that funky number of 352... , I have never relly figures out how to read that but I thought I read somewhere that it goes by days of the year so would that make these ones 17 days old already? I asked the girl about if they would actualy ship the store eggs that old and she was like sure

You are reading the date right. That's going by the # of days it is into the year. Right now the number would read 004 because it's the fourth day of the year.

You'd be surprised how many stores actually carry these! We have at least 3 locally. And we're not the most liberal state in the world :p.

December 17th is the packed on date the Julian calendar 366 days due to it being a leap year....

Ok I'm going to join here too since my eggs were the the fridge for a week before I set them just now. I hope you don't mind me joining. They aren't from the store, they're from a friend that lives out of town. He has the prettiest hen that looks like a silver laced Wyandotte but lays green eggs. The roosters with her look like wyandottes too. Probably her brothers but oh well. I also set some dark brown mystery eggs. So 3 Green and 3 brown

Woohoo! The egg that I set from our local grocery co-op is peeping!! It's supposed to be a second generation Gold Comet (yeah I know it all falls apart after the first cross), according to the poor lady who I totally creeped out at the store. *sigh*

They do act so shocked and wierded out when you mention trying to hatch eggs from the store or what not , I wonder if its because they dont want to think bout the eggs they are eating as able to grow babies
