Here is my broody girl. We bought fertile TJ eggs and moved her out of the main coop. She promptly made a nest and coos with happiness....12 white eggs underneath

That's amazing. 163 would be June 12. That's fast.

Well, I just stuck 6 Rockland brown fertile eggs (date on carton is 168) under my last broody. The other two accepted day old chicks from the farm supply (they'd been broody 2-3 weeks), but Broody #3 had only been broody a week and she was NOT accepting those chicks as hers. She pecked at them a couple times, they ran under the other broodies, and then she harumped and went back to her nest. So *fingers crossed* Now I have to learn to candle ...

Look up how to candle, its very easy with the right flashlight. I usually do day 7 and then on day 16 i candle and throw out any bad eggs
