Tragedy today

This will be interesting to follow, sorry for your loss. Last summer I lost 2 hens in a few hours. I found them in the coop, one in a nest box and one in the middle of the floor. I was guessing they died of the severe heat and humidity we had that week. fine one minute gone the next. They were a couple years old as well, not sure on exact age as I got them from my neighbor who is getting to old to care for them. Coco was a beautiful bird, again sorry for your loss.

The great thing about the neropsy is we won't need to resort to wild guessing and conjecture. If Coco had a heart attack, the necropsy will find the heart destroyed. It may even be able to tell you why the heart ruptured if that's what killed her.
Yes, I am hoping they will tell me what happened. I really miss her, because she had the most beautiful feathers and I used to love to watch her. I was sitting out in the run this morning and really miss seeing her out there.

Thank you for your kind words. Coco was like the little peacock in my flock, she had the most beautiful teal coloring in her feathers and always looked super shiny. I used to love to look at her.

I have a real loud mouth out there! I can hear her right now! I bet she will live till she’s 20 years old!

:hugs I'm so sorry. She was a beautiful girl. :hugs

I recently lost a chicken that was fine in the morning and gone in the afternoon. I've actually lost a couple that way over the years. No possibility of pesticides. They "free range" in an orchard that is not sprayed. There are no poisons to get into at all. I've never had a necropsy done on any of my chickens. I'll be interested to hear what they say about Coco, but like you I'm just mostly sad she is gone. :hit

:hugs I'm so sorry you lost that beautiful bird! I know we miss the homely ones too but Coco was truly gorgeous! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, my vet will be sending her out on Monday. I guess they need a special kind of freezer box they are waiting for. I don’t know how long it will take me to get the results, but I really want to know since she was only a year and a half old.
