Transitioning from roofed to roofless run

Pics
The roof is gone! I kinda like the open feel now, with extra light coming in and the view of the gorgeous tree overhead. Soon that will be blocked by the umbrellas, but we're having a 70-degree stretch so I'm enjoying it as it is for the moment. Some leaves fall through, others don't. When the tree is done dropping all its leaves, I'll blow them off the top with the leaf blower.

I have the perfect use for all the clear roofing panels I just took down. I'm going to use them in place of those shower curtains to winterize the sides of the run. The panels already have holes drilled through them, so I just need to zip-tie them to the fencing. They're clear so the chickens will still get light, but they're sturdier than the shower curtains and won't need as much work to secure them on all sides so they don't flap in the wind.

Sounds like a great idea! :thumbsup

Your solution looks great. I wonder how the birds will like it once it the snows come.
We got heavy snow two weeks ago, when most of the roof was gone already. The chickens absolutely freaked out! I bought 3 patio umbrellas to put inside the run and create enough dry area for them to hang out in, so that's my long term plan. Patio umbrellas are not regulated (as far as I know).
