This summer I used grass clippings in both pen and coop but I let them dry completely before raking. It that state they held little appeal for birds who had plenty of fresh greenery to nibble and weren't at risk of rot they way fresh ones are.
I haven't heard anything yet! I guess no news is good news, right?Any reaction from your neighbor at the big lighted roo???
Lol, I have a couple hens that do that too. They absolutely scream for a bit after they lay an egg. Sounds like they are being murdered!I haven't heard anything yet! I guess no news is good news, right?I've been worried though, because two of my pullets started laying recently, so they're screaming their heads off in the morning when they do... and I'm afraid of noise complaints... But the whole thing only lasts seconds, so by the time they pick up the phone (either to call in a complaint or to take a video) it's over. The rooster and chain lights are actually very pretty, so it would be hard to justify any kind of complaint regarding that. I did, however, get compliments from the other neighbors though
I finally finished with the rest of my decorations. I made stockings for the chickens out of Christmas-themed clothes that the kids have outgrown. They turned out really cute. I'll take pictures later today and then I'll post.
Hi! It looks lovely! I'm new to this thread and was just reading through...your neighbour needs to get his/her self-importance in check...I was just wondering if all is ok now? Cause the structure here seems like something he/she'd complain about (eye roll). Lovely hens! Here are all my chicken decorations! It looks so festive and nice in person, pictures don't do it justice. Nobody can claim it's an eye-sore. Even the rooster is so pretty!

Thank you! Yes, the kids love everything. When they first came out to see it after it was done, my daughter ran over to it and hugged the door of the runKokoshka, These are absolutely beautiful! Love the hens looking out the door under the stockings---"Where's Santa???", lol! Wish I had those adorable stockings!!
The whole coop/run decor is just perfect! I bet the kids love it too! Merry Christmas!
Thanks! I haven't heard anything from the neighbor or the town in a while, so I guess we're good for now? It's been going on for so long that I still can't fully relax. I always have this feeling that I'll get another call about something... And I might... But right now, the coop has been moved away from the property line, and the run doesn't have a roof anymore, so as far as the various town departments are concerned, I'm compliant with everything and there are no legal grounds for complaint. The inspector did say that everything is "appealable" and the neighbor might choose to appeal, but I guess we'll cross that bridge when we get there... I really wish I had 100% closure and I could finally relax, but I don't know when that would be possible. Just trying to enjoy the chickens for now and not take them for granted.Hi! It looks lovely!
