Transitioning from roofed to roofless run

Pics
OhBoy!
I had a feeling that guy was going to be trouble from the minute he moved in.
What ever you put up, remember 'snow load'.

My run roof is 2x4 welded wire, most snow goes thru it,
but I have to watch it if it's wet snow or ice first.
That's one reason I'm hesitant to go with denser mesh, even if the commissioner allows it. At least he's letting me keep the rafters, so the mesh won't be bearing the full load. In a way, I want to tempt nature (and Murphy's law) with something flimsy, so we can get more snow, haha. We've been getting less and less snow every year, and it makes me really sad (the kids, too - we only had enough snow to go sledding twice last winter!). So I kinda want to put something less-than up there, so that we get a nice big snowstorm for a change

English ivy and Virginia creeper nearby
I think these might be poisonous to chickens...? I surely don't want your cure to cause another problem! Although chickens have a pretty good innate knowledge of what they should/shouldn't eat.

My chicks moved outside at 6 weeks. There was an iris leaf near enough to peck. One bird pecked it one time. Somehow, they usually know.

I am so sorry this is happening to begin with. This neighbor has such a tiny heart, I'm surprised he's even alive.

Just looked at your coop page, couldn't' remember what the roof looked like.
So basically you just have to remove the clear panels and replace with mesh?

Wonders if rain water runs into neighbors yard?
The clear panels and the purlins will go, the rafters will stay with the mesh across them. The neighbor tried to claim water runoff. It was proven impossible because of the space between the run and his yard, plus the ground there slopes from his yard down into mine. I put actual gutters on the coop and run, too. Wasn’t enough to make him happy.

Alrighty, not knowing your yard space or coop but is there a way you can either lower the height of your run to a few feet high? Say, 3 or 4 feet then screen it over? Or reroute the run to be a chunnel (chicken tunnel) around the perimeter of your fence?
The table others have mentioned is great idea, just make a really long out door table.
Can you humanely trap and relocate the Pinta neighbor?

First thing I would do is ask for a complete copy of the law, everything. I would then look at the LETTER of the law. I would then ask a lawyer friend or seek a lawyer who would do a free consultation and then ask them to review your setup versus the LETTER of the law, not the intent. If you meet the LETTER of the law he doesn't stand a chance and I would go after him for harassment. Two can play that game.

I think you are handling everything the right way , once townships become involved things can spiral fast , best to try and keep the town officials on your side . I would opt for a nice size table near the coop so the chickies can get some cover from weather , and umbrellas . Don't give the PIA neighbor anything to make a complaint about , people like that live for those moments .
