Transporting Chickens

I am working on finding homes for my roosters and I was wondering what the best way to transport them would be. Could I put them in a large dog crate or would a box be better?

Probably a dog box with ventilation would be better but a box is ok as long as it can breathe. How far are you traveling with them?

Large dog crate and a water dish. Should be fine.
