Transporting flock..

Extra large dog crates work great.

The last hurricane scare, I transported fifty or so rare breed chickens in the horse trailer for a terrified owner. These plastic crates worked well as the chickens had to live in them for a few weeks. Five chickens in each crate, carefully identified, and cage door locked for security reasons during transport. God love that woman. she was serious about saving her chickens and keeping them from getting lost during transportation. She lost her home but saved her chickens.

Once you get to the new place, don't let them out of the new coop for at least a week. They need to learn that the new place is home and that's where they should return at night.

I didn't know it was supposed to be a week. I have only waited 48 hours and never had an issue with a hen not coming to the coop at night.
